I've had a look at this post again, and also opened an Issue for this

Unfortunately it does incorporate the mrtd code:

As of now I'm in contact with the developer of PyASN, who contacted me in 
private. I hope we can move the discussion to a public list for the sake of 
transparency.

Let's see what we will find out in the next days.
